Property for sale in Central Mallorca

While the South-West has long been the most popular area for buying property and certainly has much to appeal, the Centre of Mallorca may be a shrewder move for investors looking off the beaten track. One of the beauties of Mallorca is the island’s accessibility. Choosing a property in one of the central districts means living in unspoilt countryside while never being far from stunning beaches and the vibrancy of Palma. Indeed, it is possible to get to almost anywhere on the island within an hour.

The five districts of Central Mallorca are Santa Maria, Bunyola, Selva, Sineu and Alaro. They occupy a generally flat, fertile plain extending from Palma known as Es Pla.

Central Mallorca’s unspoilt villages each hold their own bucolic appeal and are set in a charming agricultural landscape where olive, almond, fig and citrus trees thrive on the rich earth. The air is clean and the Tramuntana mountain range in the distance acts as a buffer against strong winds. With less light pollution than more urbanized areas, the clarity of the night sky in rural Mallorca is remarkable.

A wealth of truly outstanding properties are on offer in Central Mallorca, from private country estates equipped with stabling and land, to luxurious villas set in beautifully landscaped grounds.

What kind of properties will I find?

Traditional country houses and villas are built from Mallorcan stone which blends wonderfully with the natural environment.

Families with children often appreciate the feeling of safety offered in the timeless interior of Mallorca. For those with schooling to consider, the international schools in and around Palma can be easily reached from many central locations.

Thanks to strict government controls, over-development is not a concern in Mallorca as it can be elsewhere in Spain. The Centre is one of the areas that come top for being ‘un-resorty’. Although just a short drive away from the resorts, wholesome Central Mallorca is world away in feel.

The Picturesque views and rolling countryside draw visitors inland for cycling. The rich, fertile soil and perfect growing climate has led to a proliferation of fincas converted for agroturism and vineyards opened for wine tourism. With such activities going on year-round, there is no need to consider how living or visiting here will feel ‘out of season’ as is the case with coastal resorts.

If authenticity is key to you and you long to live or invest somewhere beautiful and traditional, Mallorca’s inland heart could be just the place.
