Discover the authentic town of Alcudia

Visiting Alcudia is like travelling back in time. This historic town in the north of Mallorca has anicent city walls, old streets and countless historic townhouses with traditional shutters. Alcudia still retains its Mediterranean charm with sleepy streets and a village-like atmosphere, nestled in between two very large bays and surrounded by majestic mountains. The long white-sand beaches of Port d’Alcudia are located just 10 minutes away from the ancient and colourful old town.

Roman ruins

Before Alcudia there was the Roman city of Pollentia, which was the second Roman settlement to be founded after Palma. The Romans arrived to Mallorca and landed on the beaches of Alcudia in 123 BC. The Roman ruins of Pollentia can still be seen today, including an old Roman theatre.

Restaurants

Can Polit Tapas is located in a privileged location in the old town of Alcudia, serving a variety of tapas. For Italian food, there’s Osteria El Patio, also located in the old town with a charming patio. Ca’n Costa is the oldest restaurant in Alcudia, founded in 1983 with typical Mallorquin food.

Alcudia Golf

Alcudia is a paradise for golfers. The impressive Alcanada Golf Club is an 18-hole golf course with panoramic sea views overlooking the bay of Alcudia. It was created by Hans-Peter Porsche and designed by Robert Trent Jones. This exclusive golf club also has its own elegant restaurant.

Neighbourhoods

The exclusive neighbourhoods in Alcudia include seafront villas, frontline estates and luxury homes. One of the oldest and most sought-after neighbourhoods is* Mal Pas Bonaire* overlooking Pollensa Bay. Alcanada is another residential area, famous for its luxury sea view properties.

Beaches

Although Alcudia is located inland, the municipality is surrounded by a number of beaches. The main beach is Playa de Alcúdia which merges with Playa de Muro to become the longest white sand beach in the north of Mallorca. Nearby Alcudia you will also find the pristine Coll Baix beach.

Alcudia and the seaside resort of Puerto de Alcudia

Alcudia is very different to Puerto Alcudia, which is a relatively modern seaside resort town and harbour overlooking the bay of Alcudia. The port of Alcudia is one of the largest commercial ports on the island, taking you to Menorca, Barcelona and Toulon (south of France) by ferry. The coastal area of Alcudia Bay is favoured by tourists and foreign buyers due to its beautiful beaches and surrounding mountains which grant unparalleled views of the northern landscape in Mallorca.

Other properties further away from the coast include fincas, sea view villas and country homes with sea views. How to get to Alcudia

Getting to Alcudia from Palma takes approximately 45 minutes by car. Take the MA-13 motorway towards Port d’Alcúdia and keep straight. From Palma you may also take the 351 bus which takes 1 hour to get to the historic town. En-route to Alcudia you will also find Inca, Búger and Sa Pobla. Getting to Puerto de Alcudia from Alcudia takes under 10 minutes by car or 20 min by foot. Taking a taxi from the PMI airport to Alcudia costs approximately 60€, driving up to the north of Mallorca.
