The charming village Valldemossa is located 436 meters above the sea level. It is well-known because the composer Frédéric Chopin and his lover, the French author, George Sand lived there from December 1838 to February 1839. She actually wrote a book about their stay in Valldemossa, befittingly called "A Winter in Mallorca". Needless to say, the book has been translated into many languages and it can be bought in any book-shop on the island.
