Palma Old Town has many fascinating and historic neighbourhoods. From the Gothic quarter of La Llonja to the Renaissance streets of La Calatrava, there’s much to discover. There’s so many things to do in Palma that it can actually take many months before you’ve explored each and every neighbourhood of Palma Old Town. The other nearby neighbourhoods of Santa Catalina and Portixol, both on either side of the old town, also include many trendy restaurants and bars which add to the vibrant and cosmopolitan city life in Palma. The best place to start is the La Seu cathedral.

Palma Old Town: the exclusive and charming city centre

In the early 90’s there were still many derelict palaces and abandoned building scattered around Palma Old Town. These days, the historic old buildings have been converted into luxury apartments, boutique hotels, and high-street shops. Palma has transformed itself into a cosmopolitan city with a historic and Mediterranean atmosphere that’s been shaped by Arab, Roman and Christian rules. From the airport you may also take bus 1 which takes approximately 40 minutes to get to Palma Old Town. En-route to Palma Old Town you will also pass Playa de Palma and Portixol. Taking a taxi from the PMI airport to Palma Old Town costs approximately 20€.
